    Mother Goose 是英國民間童謠集，中文譯為鵝媽媽童謠集。這些民間童謠在英國流傳時間相當久，有的長達數百年，總數約有八百多首，內容典雅，有幽默故事、遊戲歌曲、兒歌、謎語、催眠曲、字母歌、數數歌、繞口令、動物歌等，英國人稱其為Nursery Rhymes(兒歌)，美國人稱其為Mother Goose(鵝媽媽童謠)，是英、美人士從孩童時代就耳熟能詳的兒歌，其中蘊含大量的英、美文化素材。兒歌教學，不但可以增進孩童對英、美文化的瞭解，提高孩子學習英語的興趣，更是訓練發音聽力培養英語語感的最佳工具。
